Stone Wash Denim?
25/10/2021
Stone washed denim gained popularity in the 1960s and remains popular to this day. This type of denim is characterized by a lightly distressed, vintage look. The name comes from the fact that the original processing method involved rubbing pumice stones over the denim to wear down the fabric. Pumice stones are the silica-rich, high-temperature melted product of explosive eruptions during the ascent and expulsion of the earth. These are lightweight, highly porous, rocky substances which will float on water. Major pumice stone–supplying countries are the United States, Turkey, Italy, Iceland, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is an important component of stonewashed apparels and is used to abrade the surface of the fabric to obtain a surface pattern effect with color contrast and a soft hand. Because the degree of abrasion may vary in different parts of garments, such as the trouser leg, button slays and seaming parts, a number of neutral patterns can be formed. The degree of the wash effect depends on the stone size, stone ratio, liquor ratio, duration of treatment, amount of garments loaded, garment’s grams per square meter, etc. Stone sizes vary from 1 to 7 cm in diameter. Other washes such as sand, micro and microsand wash are referring to the use of very small size pumice stones.

Energy crisis covers the world - The consequences can last for many years
08/11/2021
The global energy industry is in a difficult situation as some provinces in China have to restrict electricity use, Europeans pay sky-high prices for liquefied natural gas, power plants in India. Coal is about to run out, and the price of a gallon of gasoline in the US jumped to $3.25 on Friday (October 8) from just $1.72 in April. As the global economy recovers and leaders prepare to host a landmark conference on climate change, an unexpected energy crisis hits the world, threatening supply chains. already constricted, stirring up geopolitical tensions and raising questions about whether the world is ready for a green energy revolution. This energy crisis first appeared in China, the world's manufacturing base, as global demand for Chinese products spiked unexpectedly this year. Low coal stocks and China's unofficial ban on Australian lignite mean that coal stocks cannot be replenished quickly. Power companies have turned to liquefied natural gas instead, sending gas prices soaring in line with coal prices. As a result, two-thirds of regions across China were forced to limit electricity consumption, disrupting factory production and affecting daily life. Some factories have closed completely. The power cut in China further disrupts international supply chains that have been disrupted by the pandemic. Factories have had to reduce output at a time when they typically ramp up for the holiday season, in December.

Do you know the Origin of Woven Denim Fabric? We surely own at least 1 pair of jeans in our wardrobe, so have you ever wondered how this fabric is woven? This is the topic that Viet Hong Textile will bring in this "The Knowledge Corner": Denim is a type of woven twill fabric, usually made from natural fiber cotton It consists of two yarns that are woven together. The yarn that runs across—known as the weft—is threaded over and under the yarn that runs downwards, which is called the warp. Denim is usually yarn-dyed with indigo. That means the warp yarns are dyed before they’re woven into denim, while the weft yarns are left undyed or bleached. This allows mills to only dye one set of yarn, the warp. Making denim blue on the face and white underneath.
